Issues for the Week: Seniors and Graduation Requirements
For those of you who have not filled out a degree application --which is how you get your actual, physical diploma-- please do so by this week!!! Applications are due at the Registrar’s by this Friday, April 10th.
Friday, April 10th is also the last day for seniors to submit language citation forms to the Registrar’s office. Please make sure you get all the appropriate signatures and take a look at my office hours this week so that you can stop by to get my signature then. The Registrar’s Office will NOT accept any late forms!

Tutor On-Call
The tutor(s) on-call for the week of April 6 are Aaron and Grace Byrd in D-11. They can be reached at 3-2198.
In Absentia Exams are not automatically granted, so you must petition the Ad Board if you think you will need to take an exam in absentia. These petitions, which begin with a conversation with me and filling out a form, must be filed one month in advance.
A Term Off? Most importantly, speak with me about this, as we must file this information at the Registrar’s. If you have already decided to take the term off, remember to turn in your Leave of Absence petition and see Nora Dahl (J-38) about canceling your board contract. Students on Financial Aid should have an exit interview with your financial aid officer.
Submission of Similar Papers to More than One Course: If you would like to turn in the same or substantially the same paper to more than one course, you must get prior written permission of the instructors involved. Since each paper you turn in is expected to be written specifically for the assignment, failure to get written permission is deceptive, and students who do it are ordinarily required to withdraw by the Administrative Board. (Instructors do not always give permission, and they often expect a longer or somewhat different paper when they do give permission.) If you have any questions, please see me.
Plagiarism: Academic dishonesty in written work is a serious offense. Be sure you understand and follow all the proper rules of attribution and citation in writing term papers. When in doubt, consult with someone about use of sources, but don’t place your career at Harvard in jeopardy by cutting corners.
Commencement News
Graduating Seniors who haven’t filled out a degree application (which you should have received in your fall and/or spring registration packets) or changed their concentration should do so at the Requirements Office at the Registrar’s (20 Garden Street) ASAP. Friday, April 10 is the deadline for these two items. Call Melanie, if you are not sure.
Prizes and Awards. Graduate fellowships and prizes are listed in the House Commencement Program. To get recognition for your hard work throughout your academic travails here at Harvard, please inform Melanie of any awards or prizes you’ve won. Please don’t wait until the last minute; we can’t be held responsible for errors in omission. Only Harvard prizes and awards can be considered.
Non-Degree People Planning to take part in Commencement Activities: November 2008 or March 2009 degree candidates who would like to take part in this June’s Commencement activities should see Melanie IMMEDIATELY in the House Office J-35.
Not Attending Commencement Ceremony? If you do not plan to receive your diploma at the House Commencement in June let Melanie know as soon as possible.
Walking with another House? You cannot assume that you will be able to walk with another house. It is not usually a problem, but check with Melanie first, who will tell you what needs to happen.
