Dunster Common Areas

TV Room

In addition to cable television, the TV room features a DVD/VCR player and is comfortably furnished. The large, widescreen television is perfect for watching a great movie or the big game (when the Sox are in the playoffs, expect to find half the House inside). The TV room may be reserved by signing up on the house scheduler at http://dunster.harvard.edu/scheduler. Note: the TV does not support video games.

Function Rooms

The Dining Hall, the Junior Common Room, the Small Dining Room, the Senior Common Room, and the Seminar Rooms are the major function rooms in the House. Their use will normally be limited to House members. The regular hours for these rooms are as follows:

Room Hours
JCR open until 11 p.m., except by pre-arrangement
SCR restricted for tutor reservation only
Dining Hall open all night for studying
SDR open until 11 p.m., except by pre-arrangement
F-15 SRopen until 11 p.m., except by pre-arrangement
C-entry SRopen until 11 p.m., except by pre-arrangement

Capacity is limited to 75 people in the JCR and 35 people in the SDR.

Common rooms may be reserved by Dunster residents only using the online scheduler. Common rooms must be reserved in advance at http://dunster.harvard.edu/scheduler. You can also access the scheduler through the main Dunster web page by clicking on Moosetime. Please note that priority will be given to tutor and Master scheduled meetings and events. Every effort will be made to avoid conflicts. When possible, alternative common space will be offered.

The person or organization making the reservation will be responsible for clean-up and for any damage to the room. Clean-up should commence immediately following the event. All trash must be appropriately disposed of and furniture returned to the original configuration.

Dining hall use must be scheduled and approved through the Assistant to the Masters. If approved, the responsible individual must secure and fill out the necessary party forms for both Dunster House AND Harvard College. They must meet with the Dining Hall Manager and the Building Manager to discuss use of the room, furniture moving, cleaning, etc. A deposit is required.

Alcohol is not permitted in House common spaces except for pre-approved House events. Outside photographers are not to be given entry or permitted to take photographs anywhere in Dunster or any Harvard undergraduate house.
