Mooseletter April 2, 2012
From the Office of the Resident Dean
Carlos E. Díaz Rosillo
Please remember that today, Monday, April 2, is the last day upon which May 2012 and November 2012 degree candidates may submit a completed and signed foreign language citation form. The form must be received at the Registrar’s Office (not the House Office) by 5 pm today, Monday. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Final degree applications for May 2012 degree candidates are due by today as well. Students planning to graduate in May who have not filled out a degree application should do so ASAP (by going to the Registrar’s office webpage). Also due today are change of concentration forms for May 2012 and November 2012 degree candidates. Finally, advanced standing-eligible students planning to graduate after six or seven terms in May 2013 or November 2013, or to begin a fourth year AM program in fall 2012 must file the Advanced standing activation form by today.
Thanks!
CARLOS’S OFFICE HOURS - Week of April 2-6
Please see the bulletin board on 3rd floor of J for sign-up sheet.
Monday, 4/2: 1-3, open
Tuesday, 4/3 11-12 by appointment
Wednesday, 4/4: 2-5 open
Thursday, 4/5: 11-12, open
Other appointments by arrangement: Call 5-2263 or e-mail dn-abrd@fas.harvard.edu.
In Absentia Exams are not automatically granted, so you must petition the Ad Board if you think you will need to take an exam in absentia. These petitions, which begin with a conversation with me and filling out a form, must be filed one month in advance.
A Term Off? Most importantly, speak with me about this, as we must file this information at the Registrar’s. If you have already decided to take the term off, you can download the Housing Cancellation form at http://www.orl.fas.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do and submit to the ORL in the basement of University Hall. Students on Financial Aid should have an exit interview with your financial aid officer.
Submission of Similar Papers to More than One Course: If you would like to turn in the same or substantially the same paper to more than one course, you must get prior written permission of the instructors involved. Since each paper you turn in is expected to be written specifically for the assignment, failure to get written permission is deceptive, and students who do it are ordinarily required to withdraw by the Administrative Board. (Instructors do not always give permission, and they often expect a longer or somewhat different paper when they do give permission.) If you have any questions, please see me.
Plagiarism: Academic dishonesty in written work is a serious offense. Be sure you understand and follow all the proper rules of attribution and citation in writing term papers. When in doubt, consult with someone about use of sources, but don’t place your career at Harvard in jeopardy by cutting corners.
