Reading Period is Here!

As you know, reading period can be a stressful time. Take my recommendation to heart and get perspective on this period. You are meant to study during this time, review information, and finish papers and other writing commitments, all of which add up to a lot of work. But please, remember to take care of yourselves both physically and emotionally. If you are feeling unnaturally stressed and want to talk to someone, please know that I will be around for emotional support. There are also many University resources—from peer counseling groups to tutors to UHS and the Bureau of Study Counsel—who can help you to deal with the stresses of the time or even longer-term issues.
And of course, take a moment to step outside and enjoy life, even in the midst of your busy work lives.

ACADEMIC MATTERS

Let me underscore how important it is to be honest about the work you submit –papers, problem sets, and presentations– now that we are coming to the close of the semester, and crunch time begins. The University takes accusations of academic dishonesty very seriously, and hopes that its students will always submit work of their own authorship, and not work that is done by other students, with or without their knowledge, or from the web. If you have questions about what this means, please ask me.

If you plan to submit a paper to courses that are similar in content (but which still cannot be identical), this is officially known as dual submission. You must get permission from the instructor(s) and from me in order to do so. Please consult the Handbook for Students about these rules.
