The Mooseletter, May 12, 2008
May 12, 2008
From the Office of the Resident Dean
Paulette Curtis
Issues for the Week:
Noise, Parties and the like
Just a reminder that there can be no parties or outdoor gatherings during reading or exam period, which goes through May 23. For those of you who need to use the music practice rooms, please respect the limits and hours (from 10am to 7pm). These hours will be posted in the rooms themselves. Any infractions of the noise policy will be promptly addressed. Thanks!
Please note the following about exams……………………………
--If you are not able to complete your written work within reading or exam period, you MUST get the permission of the Administrative Board for an extension of time. Instructors may only grant extensions within reading and exam period.
--Get as much rest as you can now and make sure to get to your exams on time!
--If you are a few minutes late for an exam, go anyway, and you may be accommodated. If you miss the exam altogether, please come by the office and let me know asap. You may be able to arrange a make-up exam, but this will depend on your instructor, who may or may not be willing to do this. The lesson is: go!
--If you are really ill, and cannot physically take the exam, you have one of two options: In some cases the Registrar’s staff can administer examinations to students who have been admitted to Stillman Infirmary and who feel ready to take their exam within the 24-hour period following the scheduled time OR you might petition the Administrative Board to take a makeup exam in October. To do this, you must be seen by a UHS clinician within the 24-hour period before the exam. Either way, consult me about the best course to take if you are really ill.
--If you are a graduating senior who misses a final, contact me immediately.

In the coming weeks, as I complete my tenure at Dunster, I will primarily be working by appointment, though I will of course be able to be reached in case of emergencies—personal or academic. I will continue to have open hours on Friday, though the hours will be reduced somewhat.
