Mooseletter May 13, 2019

Message from the Faculty Deans – Sean Kelly and Cheryl Chen
Dear Meese,

We can’t believe how quickly the year has gone! Thanks for making the 2018-2019 year in Dunster so special. We are so grateful to be part of such a warm and welcoming community.

Thanks to Emma, Mitch, Shannon, Anne Marie and the rest of HoCo for all of your hard work putting together all the Stein Clubs, Dunster “downtimes,” the Hoedown, the winter and spring formals, Housing Day, and the (newly re-designed) “Goat” “Roast.” Life in Dunster would be very dull without all your hard work!

Thanks to Tyler, Aiden, and the Grille staff for all the milkshakes and mozz sticks, and for making the Grille an inclusive center of House life.

Thanks to Gevin, Anne Marie, Mary Katherine, PD, Emilie, and Gabe for your spirited leadership on IM’s this year. Apparently we’ve gone from 13th to 7th place. As our IM tutors mentioned, if we continue at this trajectory we will definitely win the Straus Cup next year!

Thanks to Paul, Donn, Lou, and the DHall staff for taking care of us and keeping us fed. We have enjoyed our many conversations in servery!

Thanks to Lucia, Carlos, and the custodial staff for making Dunster such a beautiful place to call home.

Thanks to Michael, Diana, and our amazing Resident Tutors for their kindness, wisdom, and support for the students’ well-being.

And thanks, finally, to Rachel for making the House run so smoothly!

Seniors: we wish you a great Senior Week and we look forward to meeting your families at Commencement.

To everyone else: have an enjoyable and restorative summer, and we’ll see you back in Dunster in the fall!

Your Faculty Deans,
Sean and Cheryl

From the Office of the Resident Dean – Michael Uy

Dearest Dunster, well this is it, the last Mooseletter of the 2018-19 calendar year. Thank you to the entire house and community for a wonderful and memorable year. Getting to learn a little bit more about you each day gives me hope that Dunsterites will make a difference in this world, making it happier, more thoughtful, more beautiful, more musical, and more caring. During this last week of finals, please continue to study and work diligently – you are almost there. Please remember quiet hours (you can listen to the new Justin Bieber-Ed Sheeran song on your head phones ), please triple check your exam schedule, and please remember our commitment to the Honor Code in the last stretch. Finally, as you move out, please be considerate of your neighbors and the house staff – would your mom or dad (or grandmother?) be proud of how you leave your room? Clean it up and recycle the items you no longer wish to keep (with those colorful pink clothing bags, for example). I’m happy to meet with anyone during this last week.*Forever Moose*

About hovsep

Hi everyone, my name is Diana Hovsepian and I am the academic coordinator in Dunster House. I have been working here since 2009: helping with your academic questions and issues, managing student records, organizing and helping with House events and Commencement. I also am here to aid you in coordinating your medical school application process and getting your recommendations in order, so please visit me if you have any questions. I also serve as a sophomore academic adviser in the House. Every Monday, I publish the Mooseletter in the dining hall and in your inboxes with news from our offices, which include academic deadlines, upcoming House events, and information from the Registrar’s office. If you find that you have any questions about academics, need to get in contact with the Resident Dean or just want to chat, please email me or stop by my office at E303A! When I am not in Dunster, I am spending time with my husband, our children, and our Boston Terrier in Bedford, MA. I love traveling, reading, watching movies, and I am always on the lookout for recommendations if you have any. Let’s have another great year in Dunster!
