Mooseletter – November 2, 2015

From the Office of the Dean
Carlos E. Díaz Rosillo

Mid-Semester Blues
This is a great time to take stock of where you are with your courses, and to rally if you feel like you are falling behind or are having problems with your schoolwork. Do not hesitate—nor
be afraid—to reach out to your professors, TFs, and myself.

Academic Honesty
Let me underscore how important it is to be honest about the work you submit –papers, problem sets, presentations–now that we are coming to the close of the semester, and crunch time begins. The University takes accusations of academic dishonesty very seriously, and expects that its students will always submit work of their own authorship, and not work that is done by other students, with or without their knowledge, or from the web. If you have questions about what this means, please ask me.

Carlos’s Office Hours
Monday, 11/2: 9-11 am, open hours
Tuesday, 11/3: 10-noon, open hours
Thursday, 11/5: 5-7 pm, by appointment
Friday, 11/6: 1-2 pm, by appointment

Please drop by for open office hours between the times that are indicated above. To sign up for an appointment please email Diana at If these times don’t work, email me at or call the House office 5-2263 or for alternate times. My office is at E303H

Guess the Riddle
Question: With thieves I consort, with the vilest, in short, I’m quite at ease in depravity; Yet all divines use me, and savants can’t lose me, For I am the center of gravity!
Look for the answer in next week’s Mooseletter! 

Quote of the Week
“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.” –Nelson Mandela

About hovsep

Welcome back to Dunster! I have been the administrative assistant to the Dean since 2009: managing student records, answering your academic questions, and coordinating Commencement and other House events. I also am here to aid you in coordinating your medical school application process and getting your recommendations in order, so please visit me if you have any questions. Every Monday, I publish the Mooseletter in the dining hall and in your inboxes with news from our offices, which includes academic deadlines, upcoming House events, and information you will find useful. If you find that you have any questions about academics, need to get in contact with the Dean or just want to chat, please stop by! When I am not in Dunster, I am spending time with my family and two Boston Terriers in Bedford, MA. I also love reading, traveling, watching movies, and I am always on the lookout for recommendations if you have any! Let's have another great year in Dunster!
