Mooseletter – November 25, 2019

From the Office of the Resident Dean, Michael Uy
Dear Dunster, Travel safely if you will be away for the Thanksgiving break – and if you’re here, HUDS does a truly special meal which I hope you will join. We’re especially lucky because we don’t even have to leave the comforts of our home because Dunster Dining Hall will be open all break, including Thanksgiving day. I’m not a turkey person, but don’t get in between me and my cranberry sauce! I am grateful to live and work with wonderful students, tutors, staff, and deans. And like last year, I’m particularly thankful for the students who read the Mooseletter every week  *Happy Thanksgiving!*
Office Hours by appointment this week. Please email Diana at hovsep@fas.harvard.edu if you wish to make an appointment to see me.

Tutor On-Call

The tutor on-call from November 25 to December 2 is Juliet Musabeyezu. She can be reached at 617-851-8419 in the event of an emergency.

The 48th Annual Dunster House Messiah Sing
Wednesday, December 4, 8:00 pm, Dining Hall
The Messiah Sing is an English-language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel. This annual performance features members of the Bach Society Orchestra and guest conductor Edward Jones of Memorial Church. The event provides a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to share in an evening of music and celebration. To help bring in the holiday cheer, we’ll also have cookies and tea available for all guests. The concert is open to the public and is free of charge. We welcome all to join us for this special Dunster House tradition!

A rehearsal for the Messiah Sing will be taking place in the Dining Hall on Tuesday, December 3. The servery will close that night at 7:45 pm and tables need to be cleared by 8:00 pm for rehearsal set-up.

On Wednesday, December 4th, the Servery will close at 7:00 pm, and tables need to be cleared by 7:15 pm for the Messiah Sing performance. Please be sure to return your trays and clear the tables by this time so that we can set up for the concert!

About hovsep

Hi everyone, my name is Diana Hovsepian and I am the academic coordinator in Dunster House. I have been working here since 2009: helping with your academic questions and issues, managing student records, organizing and helping with House events and Commencement. I also am here to aid you in coordinating your medical school application process and getting your recommendations in order, so please visit me if you have any questions. I also serve as a sophomore academic adviser in the House. Every Monday, I publish the Mooseletter in the dining hall and in your inboxes with news from our offices, which include academic deadlines, upcoming House events, and information from the Registrar’s office. If you find that you have any questions about academics, need to get in contact with the Resident Dean or just want to chat, please email me or stop by my office at E303A! When I am not in Dunster, I am spending time with my husband, our children, and our Boston Terrier in Bedford, MA. I love traveling, reading, watching movies, and I am always on the lookout for recommendations if you have any. Let’s have another great year in Dunster!
