Vancouver, WA is older than Vancouver, Canada even though no one knows about it. It was built by the British as Fort Vancouver way before Vancouver, Canada came about. I win lots of bets betting Canadians that Vancouver, WA is older!
DO YOU HAVE ANY SIBLINGS AT HOME?
Not at home, but I have 3 siblings — 1 older sister, 1 younger sister, and 1 younger brother. My older sister is a lawyer in the Bay Area, my younger sister is here at Harvard Medical School and my younger brother is in Switzerland for the year.
DID YOU HAVE ANY PETS WHEN YOU WERE GROWING UP?
Two golden retrievers, 4 rats, 2 cats, lots of fish, and some walking sticks.
WHAT SPORTING OR OTHER EVENT DO YOU ENJOY WATCHING?
I really like going to concerts and listening to any type of music. One of my favorite things to do is go to bluegrass nights at the Cantab.
TELL US SOMETHING ADVENTUROUS YOU HAVE DONE.
I rowed the Grand Canyon and flipped my raft in the biggest rapid, Crystal. The trip took 16 days and was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?
Green. Most of my closet is green.
WHAT IS YOUR MUST DO/SEE EXPERIENCE IN BOSTON?
The Nutcracker — we go every year!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEAL?
I love Chinese and Vietnamese food. I’ll go for pho or dumplings anytime!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DESSERT?
I melt chocolate chips in the microwave — so delicious!

Whether they are smiling.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ACTORS?
I grew up not watching TV, so I have no idea!
WHO ARE YOUR HEROES?
I have a lot of feminist heroes — Betty Friedan is probably one of my top heroes.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FAVORITE VACATION?
David and I already took my favorite vacation — we went to Costa Rica where we surfed, hiked, and sat in hot springs. It was amazing!
WHAT KIND OF MOVIES DO YOU LIKE?
Anything that’s not scary and doesn’t objectify women.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SEASON AND WHY?
Spring — Winter is so far away!
WHAT BOOK HAVE YOU READ RECENTLY THAT YOU RECOMMEND?
My favorite combination of books I’ve read recently is Mrs. Dalloway and the Hours.
WHAT IS THE FARTHEST YOU HAVE BEEN FROM HOME?
I’ve spent a lot of time in China, and taught English in rural China. Studying and living abroad is one of the best experiences I’ve had, but also can feel very far from home at times.
WHAT IS A HOBBY YOU WISH YOU HAD MORE TIME FOR?
I love to cook, but haven’t found very much time for it recently!

I was born to two resident tutors at Harvard in Cabot House.

All our new friends! Everyone I meet is so interesting and fun to be around. It’s great to be a part of such a wonderful community.
