Academic Specialty: History
Hello everyone! My name is Marino and I am thrilled to return to Dunster for my fourth year as a Resident Tutor and History Advisor. I am originally from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, and was a History concentrator at Harvard – as well as a proud Dunster resident! As an undergrad, I spent quite a bit of time learning languages such as Russian, Arabic and Persian, and spending summers in Moscow, Seoul and Istanbul. After graduation, I pursued my Master’s in Public Administration in France’s Ecole Nationale d’Administration, and then worked in strategy consulting in Paris for a few of years – doing projects in all kinds of sectors such as energy, government, and private equity. After this corporate detour, I have really enjoyed returning to academia for my PhD in History, teaching international history and working on my dissertation on the 1970s Energy Crisis. I’m always happy to discuss any fellowship opportunities, potential careers in the public sector (or consulting, or academia!), as well as practicing foreign languages, playing a game of squash, or just chatting about life in general. My wife Marielle and I look forward to meeting you all, and to all the great conversations to come!
