Tabling Information

Below is information for student groups or university departments who wish to table in Dunster House.

Authorization:

  • Groups or departments must receive prior approval from the Dunster House Administrator to set up a table.
  • Tabling requests should be submitted to the Dunster House Administrator (dn-ha@fas.harvard.edu) at least 5 business days before the desired date.
  • Late requests (less than 5 business days in advance) may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Only Dunster House students or Harvard University Faculty/Staff can initiate tabling requests.
  • Dunster House students may request to table on behalf of Recognized Student Organizations only if the organization is in good standing with the College.

Scheduling, Location, & Guidelines:

  • Only one group is permitted to table at any given time.
  • Groups can request up to 2 dates per month.
  • Tabling hours are between 9:00 am and 8:30 pm.
  • Approved groups can set up at either the upper deck or directly across from the Checker's Desk inside the Dining Hall.
  • Set up should not obstruct building entry/exit points, or access to the servery or dining room.
  • Projected music is not permitted while tabling.
  • Groups are responsible for leaving the space in good condition, including disposing of any materials.
  • The requester is responsible for meeting any guests at the main entrance and escorting them at all times.
  • Interhouse Dining Restrictions apply to non-Dunster students visiting for tabling sessions.

Sales and Donations:

  • If selling goods, a hawker/peddler (HP) license from the City of Cambridge is mandatory (except for printed reading materials like books and magazines). Obtain an HP license ($10/day) through the Student Engagement Team.
  • For sales or donation collections, prioritize online transactions, preferably directing funds straight to the beneficiary organization.
  • Students should not be pressured or singled out to make purchases or donations while entering/exiting Dunster House.

Policy Enforcement:

  • Dunster House staff retain the right to remove groups from tabling for violations of these guidelines or other university policies.
