Dunster abounds with music; the House has a long tradition of music-making, and music continues to be an integral part of House life. Many members of the Dunster community are involved in some way with playing, singing, composing, producing, and enjoying live music.
The Dunster Music Tutors are Gavin Kramar, MG Prezioso, and Jennifer Hsiao. Feel free to contact them for more information on Dunster House Music Programming. Our regularly scheduled music events include:
- Library Concerts: The Library is perfect acoustically and visually for vocal and chamber music, solo recitals, small orchestral performances, and poetry readings. Performers from the House are featured in special concerts about once a month. To find an ensemble to perform with, or to put together a library concert, please get in touch with the Dunster Music Tutors.
- Dunster Concert Series: The Dunster community has hosted special performances from acclaimed professional musicians regularly, a tradition that remains alive and well! Past presenters have included the Cambridge Chamber Players, violist Edward Gazouleas from the Boston Symphony, and the Low Strung Cellos.
- The Annual Messiah Sing: The Messiah Sing is an English Language oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel. This annual December performance features Harvard student soloists, the Harvard Bach Society Orchestra, and guest conductor Edwin Jones of the Memorial church. The event provides a wonderful opportunity for members of the Harvard, Cambridge, and greater Boston communities to share in an evening of music and celebration. Scores of the music will be available with the audience singing the most popular choruses. The event is free of charge. We welcome all to join us for this special Dunster House tradition!
