Hi Dunster! My name is MG (short for MaryGabrielle), and I’m a doctoral student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I’m thrilled to be joining the Dunster community as a Resident Tutor, and I look forward to meeting all of you. A bit about me—I’m from outside of Philadelphia (although I’m a New York Mets and Giants fan…), and I graduated from Harvard College in 2013 with a B.A. in English literature. After graduation, I worked for a health and wellness startup in downtown Boston, then returned to Harvard to obtain my Ed.M. in Language and Literacy from HGSE. My current doctoral research lies at the intersection of psychology and literature; specifically, I’m interested in the process of children's narrative absorption (being “lost” in a book), as well as how literature contributes to students' moral development and identity formation. Outside of graduate school, I love musical theatre, running, traveling, creative writing, watching TV/movies, and nerding out about Harry Potter and other fantasy/sci-fi books. Please feel free to reach out any time to discuss literature, writing, education, theatre, or just life in general—I’m excited to get to know you!
